Indicator paper for determining the pH and composition of solutions
Our company, EKROSCHEM, which is part of EKROS Group, offers a wide range of products of its own manufacture. One of its types is indicator paper. It is used to quickly determine different types of aqueous solutions. With the help of indicator paper, liquids are evaluated:
- the value of the hydrogen pH index, i.e. the degree of its acidity or alkalinity;
- presence of dissolved oxidants in the sample;
- the presence of the main substance in the sample is hydrogen sulfide and its dissolved salts.
During laboratory analysis of solutions, a strip of indicator paper is dipped into them. After taking it out, the employee compares the color shade obtained on it with the standard in the form of a scale placed on the packaging box. Then it makes a conclusion about the acidity or alkalinity of the liquid, depending on the pH value indicated on the package.

Suggested types of indicator paper
The indicator paper is presented on the website in 9 varieties.
- Universal. It is used to measure the pH value in the studied solutions. If the medium is alkaline or acidic, the color of the indicator paper changes differently. Its indicator is determined by the standard.
- Phenolphthaleic acid. Determines the degree of alkalinity of the solution. The initial white indicator paper for determining the pH in an alkaline medium turns red-crimson.
- The blue litmus. Determines the characteristic of the acidity of the solution. When an alkaline liquid changes to an acidic one, the initial blue color of the indicator strip changes to red.
- The Red Congo. Completely repeats the previous one. It is characterized by a significantly higher brightness of colors.
- The neutral litmus strip indicator is designed to indicate the acid-base characteristics of the solution. In an alkaline environment, you can see that the indicator has changed color to blue, in an acidic environment, the strip turns red.
- The red litmus pH indicator paper determines the alkaline parameters of the medium. The original color of the indicator turns blue.
- Iodine starch indicator paper. It helps to identify acid in a controlled liquid.
- Lead – fixes the presence of sulfur compounds, i.e. sulfides with metals and the presence of hydrogen sulfide in solution.
